It is with regret that we have had to release Blair Dreelan as vocalist for the band.
Despite enjoying working with him, and an extremely successful tour, Blair’s previous contractual commitments have meant that we would have run into serious legal problems had Blair remained in East 17.
It has left us no choice but to release him, however we are continuing to record our album and tour, with Tony taking over lead vocal duties shared with Terry and John.
We wish Blair the best of luck for the future and look forward to seeing all our fans world-wide very soon.
bring back Brian Harvey for one last chance!!!!!!!!!! if he fucks it up again, then kick him out. East 17 just isn’t right without his vocals :S
It is a bit strange news now, but I don`t think he was the best singer to replace Brian Harvey anyway. I wish Blair best of luck too – he seemed to be a good lad personally. We need to say that honestly: if you really want to make good music as East 17 again, you need just Harvey back or at least someone who`s more talented. If I was an english native, I would love to try myself ha ha;););) I seriously believe in the group as a fan. I wish you a big success and another 20 million records sale. Looking forward to hearing “Recharged” now

Sad to hear this, seems there is always a knock back for you guys! I honestly believe the original 4 members are what is needed to get that magic back and I wish there was some way of putting the past behind and making that happen. I am sure the truth will come out in the end, its seems strange that BLair has not explained why he thinks he can be in two groups and be committed to both East 17 & M4 they are both going concerns and by the posting of M4s album recently on East17 Facebook wall seems he was double bluffing both camps, to what end, I don’t. I do know that if I went and signed a marriage contract with a girl (or boy) chances are my wife will find out at some point. Maybe I could convince her to move in with my new wife, happy days!!!

Agree with Voyteck to an extent, a better singer than Harvey/Dreelan needed to blow away the memories in hopes of avoiding any comparison to Harvey. Runrig did it.
I love old East 17 songs, still listen to them to this day. I don’t think I’m a fan of the new East 17 though after listening to Secret of my Heart. The sound and the image don’t match up. You look like East 17 circa 1995, but you sound like Peter Andre. Where’s the edge?! I know you’re older and have ‘grown’ but I don’t get it. Maybe you should change the name and become a totally new band to match the new sound because what I’m hearing definitely isn’t East 17. Sorry to be blunt. That’s my opinion.
Get Brian back, he needs the cash for his electricity bills and baked tatties! Failing that, bring back the ‘edge’.
I`ve just read their biography here and I wouldn`t think before, that they are strongly inspired by those great groups like U2 or Coldplay. Now I think the new idea could go much better, because they are mature guys now – that`s truth! U2 and Coldplay do perfect job – that`s for sure. Anyway I really hope, that the guys won`t miss some parts of the old school EAST 17 with a good beat and rapping. “Walthamstow” sound is unforgetable “Feel what u can`t c”, “I disagree”, “Slow it down”, “Deep” – that is simply them. Another good point is, that the “Secret..” won`t be singing anymore. That was a real mistake which I can`t get on with
– sorry. If you have a look to M4 – Blair`s band, it is just like totally boybandish lullaby without anything good. Leave it for him…Still we have to focus on our idols East 17 and keep the thumbs up for them. GOOD MUSIC AND SOUND IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO GO WITH THE NEW ALBUM. Put your difference behind and do this for the name of East 17 and your beloved fans throughout the world. We are just humans
who needs to love and being loved. Do consider after things happen recently maybe Brian is destine to be back together with East 17……..cause i believe in miracle ……once in a lifetime.
